1. Musical Instruments of Antiquity as Illustrated in The Adventures of Asterix the Gaul - a professor of acoustics gave a not-entirely-spoof paper on the depictions of the musical instruments of the time, apparently the descriptions of the sounds they made are pretty accurate.
