Since 2003 I've been keeping a great big public list of vacancy pages where science communicators and health info communicators work, or might work, in the UK. Initially this was just a list I kept for myself as part of trying to find a job, then I discovered the world of blogs and realised others might find it useful too.
There are places that are obviously science communication-y sorts of places, such as science museums, learned societies and medical research charities but all sorts of other places fit the bill and have vacancies pages that may be worth noting.
Universities will have scientists who also do science communication stuff, and departments and larger projects might also have someone whose job relates to wider public engagement and scicomm, so uni vacancies pages are a good bet. Similarly any organisation with a science PR department.
Many organisations don't pitch the jobs they make available as 'scicomm' (though there has been an increase in them doing this in recent years) so I advise thinking of this list as a bouncing off point to find other examples within a sector (eg there are loads of medical charities here but I've not got all of them) or to find a new sector (I don't have much here on big industries).

What I would like is to hear about similar lists in other cities and countries which I can then combine with this list. I mean yes of course I can google science centres and museums in, say, Canada or Italy and provide a list but it's probably better done by someone who knows the area.
What I would also like is for all organisations which have a vacancies page to set up a page-redirect so that typing /jobs after the homepage address always takes you to wherever their vacancies page is. Organisations use such a variety of terms to describe jobs that it would be helpful to aim for some overarching consistency: jobs, vacancies, work with us, work for us, recruitment, careers etc.

Dear organisations, companies, charities, people who employ other people...
There are lots of people looking for jobs at the moment and many of them will be spending some time looking online, so let's make it easier.
Although there's an almost limitless supply of websites that list job vacancies most organisations will also post their own jobs on their own website in addition to advertising elsewhere. Sometimes they can be a bit hard to find and require hopeful candidates to spend time hunting on your website.
Here's my big suggestion for making it easier for everyone to find your latest job vacancies.
Create a page which has the following type of address
http://www.yourwebsite.co.uk/jobs
This means that anyone visiting your site only has to type /jobs at the end of the address of your homepage to be immediately taken to your page about jobs.
Most web users know or have learned, through experience, that clicking on the organisation's logo (generally on the left hand side of the page) will return them to the homepage. I'd love it if people could similarly learn that typing /jobs was a quick shortcut that would always lead them to a page of info about working at your company.
It also provides people with a page that they can bookmark and link to (eg on sites where vacancies pages are collected). It's even better if you set up an RSS feed on it so that your new jobs are sent to RSS subscribers whenever you make a change on that page.
Possible objections
1. People can use our search box to find jobs
I'm sure they can, if they're on your site. But should they search for job, jobs, vacancy, vacancies, work with us (for us) or recruitment? Do all those words lead them to your page on jobs?
2. Way ahead of you, our jobs page is at http://www.yourwebsite.co.uk/vacancies
Fantastic. Any chance you could humour me and set up a /jobs page that redirects to your vacancies page as well?
Don't forget, after a website reshuffle, to point your new http://www.yourwebsite.co.uk/recruitment to the http://www.yourwebsite.co.uk/jobs page though.
3. We're a small company so we don't have a page on jobs
Well... can't force you, but would it damage your Google ranking to have a page saying that jobs will be posted there when they become available?
How about using such a page to talk about what a great place you are to work, perhaps some profiles celebrating the diverse mix of skills and backgrounds of your members of staff, and why they've chosen to work there.
4. Well we do have a jobs board
Great but that's you advertising jobs at other organisations (very helpful of course) but is it easy for people to find out how they can work with you too?

Making job recruitment a bit easier - suggestions
A short blog post arising because of my frustrations with the world not being as I would like it to be...
The English language affords us many words to get our points across but in the field of job vacancies its expansive repertoire might be more of a hindrance. As you may know, I run the @scicommjobs vacancies listing and have been collecting vacancies pages for employers of science communicators for the last seven years (http://is.gd/1KPor). Periodically I look at these pages to see if any new jobs are being advertised - many are also advertised in the mainstream media as well as certain mailing lists, but many are not.
In Jo World there would be an agreed word, perhaps 'jobs' and all websites would set their search engines so that searches for vacancies, recruitment, opportunities, 'work for us' and 'work with us' would all point towards 'jobs' and not return 'page not found'.
Secondly, all organisations would have a dedicated jobs page, possibly a sub-page of 'About Us' which most organisations already have. Some organisations advertise their jobs in the news section which is fine, but I can't see that it's a great deal of work to have a permanent page (even if it has nothing on it for ages until a vacancy appears).
Thirdly, let's pipe some RSS feeds from vacancies pages. I'd love to be able to send organisations' feeds to my blogpost* linked above so that when I look at it, the new jobs ping up - saves a bit of clicking. I think the benefits of this go beyond telling people there's a job that they may or may not want - the RSS adds content to the world, with your brand on it.
*I'm not actually sure if this is possible in Blogger, though it works quite well in Wikispaces http://skepticmedia.wikispaces.com/Events - I didn't add the Glasgow event (at time of writing one is coming up on 30 June), I merely added the widget that will update an RSS feed when a new event is posted.
Fourthly - and I accept that I might be on my own on this one - have an archive of all your job descriptions so people can see the range of jobs that your organisation has (even if not available) and can see, well in advance, the sorts of skills and experience required for a job that they may be interested in. This last point is primarily why the ScicommJobs Posterous exists - I've taken matters into my own hands ;-)
I think any or all of these would make it a little bit easier for people to find out about jobs, and to set up automated systems (reading RSS feeds) to keep an eye on what they're interested in.

2. Persuade organisations to set up a redirect so that http://www.organisation_name.com/jobs always goes to wherever their jobs page is. People do shuffle their websites but a standard pointer would be helpful to bookmark.
3. Create a local version for your region or country and I'll link it here. Section 180 has non-UK information including Scotland, Canada and one or two elsewhere. I'd love to embiggen this section but it's best done by someone local to the area.

Hopefully more of them are paid than unpaid (everyone boo hisses at unpaid internships because they don't pay people for their work and exclude people who can't afford to work for free for a few months). Some of these are large enough to employ a staff including roving microphone handlers for Q&As, front of house, writing up stuff for reports etc). If you're a researcher these are the sorts of places you might want to apply to demonstrate your science.

I think there are several ways to consider science communication at universities: (i) almost all universities will have a press office so I'd suggest picking a science-research-heavy one for the most science communication, (ii) some universities are part of the Beacons for Public Engagement so will employ 'public engagement coordinators' and similarly titled roles, (iii) a number of universities teach science communication and science journalism so will of course employ science communicators and (iv) lectureships involving teaching science to undergraduates is also an important part of communicating science to the next generation...

I think there are several ways to consider science communication at universities: (i) almost all universities will have a press office so I'd suggest picking a science-research-heavy one for the most science communication, (ii) some universities are part of the Beacons for Public Engagement so will employ 'public engagement coordinators' and similarly titled roles, (iii) a number of universities teach science communication and science journalism so will of course employ science communicators and (iv) lectureships involving teaching science to undergraduates is also an important part of communicating science to the next generation...

Tony Hirst (@psychemedia) has been a bit nifty with some Scraperwiki skills and has set up something akin to magic to sniff out any RSS feeds available from the websites listed below. I think the full list self-updates so I need to take a peek every now and again and transfer the job feeds here (there are all sorts of feeds in that list).
You can find the job feeds on this page wherever the icon is. Hover over it, right-click and save the feed address to add to your reader - and new jobs are sent to you. Do what you can to encourage organisations to create RSS feeds for their jobs and I can add them here.

What’s this page about?
Organisations will typically post details of their science communication job vacancies in several places - their own website where either a permanent job vacancies page exists or it will be flagged up in their news page, newspapers (eg Guardian jobs), specialist magazines, mailing lists such as those mentioned at the top of the post and various other places.
This blogpost focuses on the first option and lists scientific organisations' vacancies pages, if they have them, ie where they'd publish their own vacancies / jobs.
It's heavily weighted towards biology / medicine as that's my preference, and almost exclusively London, again my preference. I'm only too happy to link to your blog post outlining science communication job vacancies in other cities or countries.
It includes a complete list for charities which are members of the Association of Medical Research Charities. If you work for a medical research charity or think you might like to (or any patient charity that communicates medical or scientific information to people) then I also run a LinkedIn group for Science communicators in medical research charities.
Anything in orange is probably to be found in more than one list.
Finding jobs on organisations’ websites
In the list above I've used the word that the site used (in case the page changes and you need to search from scratch - this happens quite often). If all else fails, check the site map, or email the organisation and ask (many do not actually have dedicated vacancies pages and will put new vacancies under 'news'). Also, note that some sites will use ourwebsite.org.uk/jobs in the address but refer to the page as 'vacancies'.
Website search tools do not always distinguish the word 'job' from 'jobs' and so both search terms may need to be used. Similarly some sites use vacancies, recruitment, careers, opportunities, working at [organisation], work with us... etc. so I recommend trying a creative variety of words and plurals.
My plan, once I rule the universe, is to politely force all organisations to follow the same pattern of http://website.address.org.uk/jobs where we can all find everything with ease.

The purpose of this isn't just to advertise jobs, but to build up an archive of job titles, roles and job descriptions. At the time of writing there are about 400 downloadable job descriptions which have been collected since October 2009. I began collecting the vacancies pages of science communication-y organisations in 2003 when I started looking for a job in this area. I wish I'd had this resource then so I hope you find it useful.
